Unfortunately, not all people love spring. In spite of the blooming flowers, the cool breeze, and lovely weather, there are still those who would like to skip the whole spring season if they can. The reason behind their not-so-positive outlook towards this season can be summarized into two words—seasonal allergy.
Every time spring comes up, these people fill their medicine cabinets with all sorts of allergy medications. However, preventing seasonal allergies should not be limited to medicine whether prescribed or over-the-counter.
Here are some useful tips when it comes to seasonal allergies:
1.Eat food rich in essential fatty acids. Several studies show that essential fatty acids can reduce allergic reactions in a significant number of people.
2.Increase your Vitamin C intake. Vitamin C is proven to lessen the amount of histamine in the blood. Fruits and vegetables rich in Vitamin C can do wonders in preventing seasonal allergies.
3.Observe pollen counts. There are numerous sources citing pollen counts. Check them out before heading outdoors. If the pollen count is soaring high, you better stay indoors. Be sure to close the windows.
4.Wash you hair before sleeping. That is unless you want to have pollen in your pillow and suffer an allergy attack in the middle of the night.
Of course, these are just preventive measures. If you are looking for a cure instead of prevention, buy lots of antihistamines. It is a well-recommended seasonal allergy medication.
